This Privacy Policy explains how ShareMyCV collects, uses, and protects your personal information. We believe in being transparent about the data we collect and how we use it.

What information we collect

Your account information:

• Email address (managed by Clerk, our authentication provider)
• Username (your chosen sharemy.cv/username)
• Display name (optional)
• Account creation date and last update time

Your CV:

• The CV file you upload (PDF, DOC, or DOCX)
• File name, size, and upload date

Analytics when someone views your CV:

To provide you with useful insights, we collect information about people who view your CV:

• Visitor's IP address
• Approximate location (country and city, obtained via ip-api.com)
• Device type (desktop, mobile, or tablet)
• Browser name and operating system
• Referrer (the website they came from)
• Whether they downloaded your CV
• Date and time of the visit

Important: If you share your CV link publicly, visitors should know that their viewing activity is tracked. This analytics tracking cannot be disabled as it's a core feature of the service.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Host your CV and make it accessible via your unique link
• Show you analytics about who viewed and downloaded your CV
• Manage your account and provide customer support
• Improve and maintain the service
• Prevent fraud and abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

Who we share your information with

We share your information with a small number of trusted service providers that help us run ShareMyCV:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Your privacy rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: You can view all your account information and analytics in your dashboard
• Download your CV: You can download your CV file at any time
• Update your information: You can change your username (once every 30 days) and display name
• Delete your account: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your dashboard

For EU residents: You have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing.

For California residents: You have rights under CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account information and CV for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your data from our systems. Analytics data associated with your account is also deleted.

Note: Our authentication provider, Clerk, manages their own data retention policies for account credentials. When you delete your ShareMyCV account, we also request deletion of your Clerk account.

How we protect your data

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption for data transmission and secure storage. However, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong password and keep your account credentials safe.

Age requirement

ShareMyCV is intended for users aged 13 and older. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian to use our service. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We'll notify you of significant changes by email or through a notice on our website.
